Info: Traveling from the Arabian Gulf to Le Havre, France, the Amoco Cadiz ran aground during stormy weather three miles off the coast of Brittany on Portsall Rocks near Brest, France. Rough seas and an isolated location contributed to a 2 week delay in clean up efforts. Then, severe weather caused the ship to break up before any oil could be removed from the ship.
